The rich history of Leslie Groves Park
Leslie Groves Park is a 149 acre park on the edge of the Columbia River in Richland, Washington. Named after U.S Army General Leslie Groves, this park serves as a memorial to the Manhatten Project which General Groves oversaw during the 1940’s.
Today, the park is a gathering place for people living in both Richland and in the surrounding cities. Filled with hiking and biking paths, Leslie Groves hugs the Columbia River and ends up connecting to the Sacajaewa Heritage Trail. This park is one of the few places lush with trees in the Tri-Cities, as Eastern Washington is known for sand and sagebrush.
Green + Lush Senior Session
This location is a great option for photos if you are looking for a spot that contrasts the Eastern Washington desert. I recommended this spot to Caden and really liked how it worked with the outfits he picked out. His red shirt popped against the green, and we even found some fall color amongst all the trees!
Because of the large acreage, there are so many places to take photos within the park. There are multiple parking lots and entrances, so get a clear idea of where you want to meet your client/photographer beforehand so you don’t get lost. Plan ahead if you don’t have any idea where you want to go in the park. There are so may resources online about the park so you can figure out where to meet up, or better yet, go to the location before your session.
