Summer Nights at the Fair | Benton-Franklin County Fair & Rodeo

The Benton-Franklin County Fair & Rodeo started in 1948 and has been Tri-Cities’ summer send off every year since then. Known for it’s rodeo and market stock sale, I and so many other’s growing up in Eastern Washington looked forward to this annual tradition. It marked the start of the next school year, with the dates of the fair typically being the days right before school started. The Benton-Franklin fair often touts the slogan The Best Week of Summer.

I wanted to capture some of the nostalgia with the neon lights and sunset of the fair grounds. These photos were an experiment with prisms and trying a technique where I rubbed Vaseline on a clear CD case cover to create blur from the carnival ride lights.
